Aircon service
Aircon Gas Leak Repair
fromS$165Β· Gas check and top-up first; leak check from S$580
Ideal when
- Needing a top-up more than once in a year or two
- Being told your aircon needs gas every year
- Frost on a copper pipe with clean filters
- Hissing or an oily patch at a pipe joint
- A low-gas error code, such as a Daikin U0
How do we repair an aircon gas leak?
An aircon gas leak is repaired by finding the exact spot with infrared and ultrasonic detectors and a bubble test, then fixing the joint, valve or pipe. The pipes are checked for leaks and cleared of air and moisture, and the correct gas goes back in. Low gas always means a leak, so a top-up without a repair only buys time.
Is it a leak, or just low gas?
There is no such thing as gas running low with age: the gas circuit is sealed. If your aircon has needed gas before and the cooling is fading again, it is leaking, and paying for another top-up only repeats the cycle. Most customers should start with our gas check and top-up, which costs far less than a leak check: the S$165 is paid at booking and, if the gas is fine, goes towards the service that fixes the cooling. For the warning signs, read aircon gas leak signs, or check your aircon gas yourself.
What happens during a leak repair?
- Leak check. We measure the gas, then run infrared and ultrasonic detectors over the outdoor unit, every flare joint, the service valves and the coil. We do not use pressure tests to find leaks.
- Pinpoint and quote. A bubble test shows the exact spot, and we quote the repair before any work starts.
- Repair. The remaining gas is recovered first, then the joint, valve or pipe is fixed, or the part replaced.
- Check, pump out and refill. The repair is checked again with the infrared detector and digital measuring tools. Air and moisture are pumped out; when the repair needs a deep evacuation, a digital gauge shows straight away if anything still leaks. Then the correct gas goes in to the right amount before we check the cooling.
Where we find leaks, and how each is fixed
Where | What we usually find | The repair |
|---|---|---|
Flare joints | A worn, cracked or loose flare, often from installation | Cut off and remade |
Service valves on the outdoor unit | Leaking valve body or cap | Valve repaired or replaced |
Copper pipes | Flattened, kinked or rubbed through during installation or renovation | Damaged section repaired |
Indoor or outdoor coil | Pinhole leaks from corrosion | Coil repaired or replaced |
Pipes hidden in trunking or a ceiling | Any of the above, out of sight | Pipes reached, then repaired, quoted after the leak check |
A real job: the leak in the attic
Two Daikin outdoor units sat boxed in under exhaust ducts in an attic, where leaking R32 could collect instead of clearing. The leak was a worn flare on the thinner copper pipe, remade on the spot. Read the full job.
What should Singapore homes know?
Most outdoor units sit on an HDB or condo aircon ledge, so ledge access is part of every gas job. In many homes the pipes run through trunking or a false ceiling, which takes longer to reach. A System 2, 3 or 4 has one outdoor unit and a set of pipes for every room, so there are more joints to check. Each system takes only the gas on its nameplate, whether R32, R410A or the older R22.
What does it cost?
Start with the gas check and top-up, S$165. When the gas keeps running low, the infrared leak check is S$580 for 1 to 3 units and S$880 for 4 to 5 units; if it finds the gas is fine, the balance after the work done is kept for future services. The repair is quoted once the leak is found, before any work starts. What drives the repair price:
- Where the leak is, and how easy it is to reach
- Whether a joint can be remade or a part must be replaced
- The gas type and how much has to go back in
- System 1 to 4, and the length of the pipes
Warranty
Gas leak repairs carry a repair warranty from 180 days, depending on the job. To make a claim, WhatsApp us photos or a video of the problem.

Aircon Gas Leak Repair: common questions
Do you do a pressure test to find the leak?
No. We stopped using pressure tests to find leaks years ago: they take days, and a worn gauge can leak too, so the result can point at the wrong thing. We pinpoint leaks with infrared and ultrasonic detectors instead: S$580 for 1 to 3 units, S$880 for 4 to 5.
What if the leak check finds the gas is fine?
The S$580 is not lost. We deduct the cost of the work actually done and keep the balance for your future services, or turn it into a maintenance contract with servicing 4 times a year.
Should I book the gas check or the leak check?
Most customers should start with the gas check and top-up, S$165, which costs far less. Book the leak check when the gas has been topped up before and the cooling has faded again, which means it is leaking.
What happens after the leak check?
We show you where the leak is and quote the repair before any work starts. You decide whether to go ahead; nothing is replaced without your agreement.
How do you know the repair holds?
Before the gas goes back in, we check the repaired spot again with the infrared detector. When the repair needs a deep evacuation, a digital gauge shows any leak at once, not days later.
Which gas does my aircon use?
It is printed on the outdoor unit's nameplate. Most newer inverter aircons use R32, older ones R410A, and the oldest R22. A system takes only its own gas: refrigerants must never be mixed.
Can every gas leak be repaired?
Most leaks at flare joints, service valves and pipes we can reach are repaired in one visit. A corroded coil may need replacing, and on an older system that keeps leaking, we talk you through whether a repair or a new system makes more sense.
