Aircon service
Aircon Repair and Troubleshooting
fromS$150· Diagnosis visit; parts and repair extra
Ideal when
- A blinking light or error code that returns after one reset
- An aircon that will not turn on or trips the power
- Water leaking or dripping from the unit or pipes
- Grinding, buzzing, clicking or high-pitched noises
- Poor cooling that cleaning did not fix
What does aircon repair and troubleshooting cover?
Aircon repair starts with diagnosis, not parts. A blinking light or error code shows which area of the system reported a fault, and testing then finds the failed part: a PCB, sensor, fan motor, capacitor, drain or refrigerant leak. We quote before replacing anything, and use original parts where they are available.
How do we find and fix the fault?
- Hear the symptom. Tell us what the unit does and, if it is blinking, the code or the number of flashes. Sending it ahead to Luna on WhatsApp helps us bring the right tools and parts.
- Read the fault code. On a Daikin, the wireless remote can read the stored code; on a Mitsubishi Electric Starmex, the flash count or a code read from the control PCB shows where to test.
- Indoor or outdoor? We narrow the fault to one side of the system before opening anything up.
- Test the parts. Boards, relays, capacitors, sensors and motors are tested with a meter, and the gas is checked if refrigerant may be involved.
- Quote and order. Once the failed part is pinned down, we quote, then order the exact part.
- Repair and re-check. After the repair we re-check the related components, such as the compressor and fan, and test cooling and drainage.
Which faults do we fix most?
Symptom | Usual causes | Read more |
|---|---|---|
Blinking light or error code | PCB, thermistor, fan motor, low gas or a communication fault | |
Will not turn on or trips the power | Power supply, a failed PCB or relay, a fan motor fault | Book a diagnosis |
Water leaking | Blocked drain pipe, dirty drain pan, frozen coil, unit off level | |
Grinding, buzzing, clicking or squealing | Blower fan rubbing, capacitor, relay, worn fan motor bearing | |
Pipes or casing dripping | Torn or compressed pipe insulation | Book a diagnosis |
Not cold after cleaning | Gas leak, fan motor, capacitor or expansion valve | See gas top-up |
Gas leak repairs also come under this service: the leak is repaired, we test the pipes for leaks and pump out air and moisture, and the correct charge is put back. If a fault turns out to be dirt, such as a Daikin A5 freeze-up code caused by a clogged coil, premium servicing is often the fix instead.
A real repair: blinking Starmex in Katong
A Mitsubishi Electric Starmex MXY3G28VA at Ashi Foot Reflexology in Katong was blinking and could not cool. Step by step, we narrowed the fault to the outdoor unit and found a failed relay, X52C, on the power PCB. We ordered the original board from the Mitsubishi Electric Singapore Service Centre, and Eric and his son Evan replaced it in about three hours. The full story is in our Starmex PCB replacement case.
What should Singapore homes know?
Most outdoor units sit on an HDB or condo aircon ledge, exposed to sun and rain. Work on an open outdoor board is scheduled for a dry day, and working at the ledge is a job for a technician with safety equipment. On a System 2, 3 or 4 multi-split, one outdoor unit serves every room, so a fault there stops all of them at once, and parts support from the brand matters more. Never open the indoor or outdoor unit yourself: the boards carry high voltage.
What affects the price?
- Which part has failed, and the cost of the original part
- The brand and model, and how quickly the part can be supplied
- Whether the fault is in the indoor or outdoor unit
- How much has to be dismantled to reach the part
- Access to the outdoor unit and the number of units checked
The diagnosis visit is S$150. It is not deducted from the repair: parts and the repair itself are charged separately, and we quote them before any work starts.
Warranty
Repairs carry a warranty from 180 days, depending on the job. Servicing visits carry a 90-day warranty. To make a claim, WhatsApp us photos or a video of the problem.

Aircon Repair and Troubleshooting: common questions
Can I reset a blinking aircon myself?
You can try once. Note the code first, switch off at the isolator, wait a few minutes and switch back on. If the same code returns, the fault is real, and resetting it again and again can let the cause get worse.
Is it safe to keep using an aircon with a fault?
If it is still cooling normally, it can usually wait a short while for a technician. If it has stopped cooling, trips the power, smells of burning or makes grinding noises, switch it off, because running it can damage other parts.
Can a faulty PCB be repaired instead of replaced?
Sometimes a single component can be repaired, but in most cases replacing the board with an original part is the better fix. It restores the system to factory condition and avoids a repeat breakdown from a board that is already ageing.
Do you repair aircons you did not install?
Yes. We repair Mitsubishi Electric Starmex, Daikin, Panasonic, Haier, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Hitachi and other brands, whoever installed them.
What if the part is not in stock?
We tell you before ordering. Some brands can take months to supply a part, so when a unit has failed completely and the wait is long, we talk you through whether replacing the system makes more sense.
