Pasir Ris lies on the north-east coast at the end of the East-West Line. White Sands sits beside Pasir Ris station, Pasir Ris Park and the beach run along the shore, and Downtown East and the Loyang industrial area are at the eastern end. The HDB estates were built mostly in the late 1980s and 1990s, with many five-room and executive flats and maisonettes, and there are condos and executive condos closer to the sea.
