When does a Fernvale aircon need its first chemical wash?

Fernvale is the north-western corner of Sengkang, strung along the Sengkang West LRT loop with stops such as Fernvale, Layar and Thanggam. The Seletar Mall is its shopping centre, and the prata shops of Jalan Kayu are just across the road. The short answer

Not on a fixed date. A first chemical wash is due when the blower fan and drain pan start to turn slimy, mouldy or blocked. For a young system, watch for:

1. Cooling that takes noticeably longer to bring the room down, even right after servicing.
2. A smell that returns within weeks of a clean.
3. Water spotting under the indoor unit, a sign the drain pan or pipe is clogging.
4. Black specks on the blower fan you can see through the louvres.
