How do I choose an aircon servicing company in Singapore?
Choose a company that removes and properly washes the blower fan, explains what it finds, measures before recommending gas or chemical work, publishes its prices and gives a written warranty. A cheap service that only wipes covers and sprays filters leaves most of the dirt inside, so ask exactly what is included before you book.
Key takeaways
- The blower fan is the test: a proper service removes it or washes it at high pressure, because that is where mould builds up.
- Tools show competence: a technician who diagnoses gas problems carries gas-checking tools, a leak detector and a vacuum pump.
- Low gas means a leak: refrigerant is not used up, so a top-up without finding the leak is money lost.
- Get the warranty in writing: ours is 90 days on every service.
In the video above, Uncle Eric explains the three reasons he believes iAircon's cleaning stands out. This guide is broader: it is the checklist we would give a friend choosing any aircon servicing company, including us.
What should a proper aircon servicing include?
Ask any company to tell you, before the visit, exactly what they clean and check. A thorough general service on a wall-mounted unit should cover:
- Air filters washed and dried.
- Blower fan cleaned. This is the drum-shaped fan inside the indoor unit, where black mould and dust build up. Washing it in place with a weak spray moves the dirt around; removing it or using a proper high-pressure wash gets it out.
- Evaporator coil washed to clear dust and slime from the fins.
- Drain pan and drain pipe flushed, so condensed water does not back up and leak.
- Outdoor unit checked and its coil cleaned when needed.
- Performance check at the end: air temperature, airflow and no leaks.
We use PowerJet, our high-pressure jet wash, on the coils and blower fans during premium servicing, for a much deeper clean than a standard wipe-and-spray (watch: the truth behind proper blower fan cleaning). If a company also offers chemical cleaning, ask how its chemical wash and chemical overhaul differ; our guide to general servicing vs chemical wash vs overhaul explains which one a unit actually needs.
How can I tell if a technician knows what they are doing?
Look at the tools. A technician who only carries a spray pump and a screwdriver can clean, but cannot diagnose. For faults such as poor cooling or gas problems, a competent team should have:
- Digital tools to check how the gas is performing, rather than guessing by feel.
- A gas leak detector. We carry infrared and Habotest HT601B+ detectors.
- A vacuum pump to clear air and moisture from the pipes after any repair that opens the gas circuit.
Then listen to how they explain things. A good technician tells you what they saw, shows you the dirty coil or the leaking joint, and gives you options. Vague answers like "your aircon is old, must change" without a reason are a warning sign.
What questions should I ask before booking?
Question | A good answer sounds like |
|---|---|
What exactly is included in normal servicing? | A clear list, including the blower fan and drain |
Is the price fixed per unit, and what costs extra? | Published prices, with extras explained before work starts |
What warranty do you give? | A stated period in writing, for example our 90 days |
Which brands do you service? | Your brand named, with examples of past jobs |
How do you check gas? | They measure it with proper tools, and do a leak check if it is low |
How do you reach the outdoor unit? | Safe access to the ledge, with safety equipment when working at height |
Once you have the answers you need, book your next service.
What are the red flags?
Most technicians are honest, but these patterns cost Singapore homeowners money:
- A very low headline price that grows on site. The deal gets you in the door, then the "real" problem appears. We explain this in what cheap chemical wash deals may not include.
- Gas top-up without measurement. The refrigerant circuit is sealed. If gas is low, there is a leak, and topping up without a reading or a leak check means you will pay again.
- Pressure to replace a unit on the spot. Ask for the fault in writing and get a second opinion if the aircon is not very old.
- No warranty, or one that only exists verbally.
- No reviews and no record of real work you can check before booking.
Uncle Eric shares one real case of a homeowner we helped before she fell for an aircon scam (watch: how we helped a customer avoid an aircon scam).

When to call a technician
Book a service now, rather than waiting for the next scheduled visit, if your aircon:
- leaks water onto the wall or floor
- smells musty or sour when it starts
- cools weakly or takes much longer than usual to cool the room
- shows black spots on the blower fan or air flaps
- makes new rattling or buzzing noises
Book online in under a minute, or ask Luna on WhatsApp which service fits your aircon, any time of day.
Frequently asked questions
Should I sign an annual aircon servicing contract?
A contract suits homes that want servicing on a fixed schedule without having to remember to book. Before signing, check how many visits are included, what each visit covers and whether chemical cleaning is part of it or charged separately.
Is it a bad sign if a technician recommends a chemical wash?
Not on its own. Some units genuinely need one, for example when the blower fan and drain pan are coated in slime or blocked. The warning sign is a recommendation without explanation, so ask the technician to show you the slime on the blower fan and drain pan first.
Do I need to be home during aircon servicing?
Someone should be there to let the technician in, show which units need work and check the aircon is cooling before the technician leaves. It is also the best time to ask questions about what was found.
Can one company service all my different aircon brands?
Yes, an experienced company should handle all the common brands in Singapore homes, including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Toshiba and Hitachi. Ask whether they have worked on your brand and type of unit, especially for ceiling cassettes.
Does the warranty cover the aircon breaking down after servicing?
A servicing warranty covers the work done, such as a leak caused by a drain that was not cleared properly. It does not usually cover an unrelated part failing later, like an old fan motor. Ask the company what its warranty covers before you book.
