When do we need to clean the aircon OUTDOOR CONDENSING unit? Only when needed, for the heat exchange (coil area) when accumulated with thick layer of dust & affected the heat dissipation. The unit must be able to "suction" in fresh air around, in order to vent the heat at the front with the exhaust fan.
HDB with ODCU mounted on stainless steel brackets, won't need cleaning so often. Sometimes it can take up to 8-12 years before cleaning subjected to the surrounding condition. Whether it's nearby coffeeshops, low rise levels, nearby to Expressways, carparks etc. The environment can contribute to amount of dirt buildup. So, its needed to be monitored at least twice a year through out the years of aircon usage.
