A leaking service valve can drain your entire refrigerant system and leave you sweating. In this video, we show you how we track down and fix a service valve leak from start to finish.
The main culprit in this case was a set of worn out internal O rings. When these rubber seals degrade, pressurized gas escapes right through the valve.
Here is our full workflow to fix it right. First, we safely recover the remaining refrigerant and isolate the area. Next, we carefully disassemble the service valve assembly, remove the old and damaged O rings, and clean out the housing. We then install brand new, high grade O rings designed to hold strong against high pressure and temperature changes.
Once the new seals are securely in place, we reassemble the valve and connect our vacuum pump to perform a deep system evacuation. This removes all moisture and air. Finally, we recharge the correct amount of refrigerant and perform a pressure test to guarantee a zero leak finish.
